Source Close to Kelly Clarkson Reveals She Is ‘Looking Forward’ To Going Back To Work

Kelly Clarkson took the summer off to prioritize her family after an unexpected tragedy. Now, she's coming back to work, and our TV screens.

Kelly Clarkson has had to deal with a lot of unexpected changes this year. Not only has she been faced with the death of her children's father, Brandon Blackstock, but she hasn't been working. This summer, she made temporary moves to step away from her roles on The Kelly Clarkson Show and The Voice. However, a source revealed that Kelly would be returning shortly, thinking "being in a busy environment will do her good."

The source also spoke of the strength and resilience Clarkson has had to demonstrate in the past year. After Blackstock passed away, Clarkson put out a statement on Instagram to keep fans updated. She revealed that she would be postponing her residency in Las Vegas to spend more time with her kids. The divorced couple shares two children, River and Remington Blackstock.

"While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children's father has been ill, and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them. I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows, and I so appreciate your grace, kindness, and understanding."

Kelly Clarkson will not be resuming her Las Vegas Residency until next summer, but will be returning to other projects in the meantime.

Clarkson Is Getting Back in the Saddle, or the Red Chair

Blackstock suffered from and was taken by melanoma at the age of 48. For the past three years, the talent manager had battled with cancer in private. Clarkson's announcement on Instagram was the first that anyone had heard of the illness. Since then, the singer has taken the summer off to prioritize family over work. "The strength and bravery that she has shown is nothing short of heroic," the source close to her shared.

Now, it's been revealed that Kelly will be returning to The Voice in its new format, The Voice: Battle of Champions, alongside John Legend and Adam Levine. Jennifer Hudson took her seat in the red chair during an August rehearsal, but this spring, fans can expect to see the American Idol winner back in her rightful place on their screens.

According to Deadline, Clarkson is also filming Season 7 of The Kelly Clarkson Show this September. "Kelly's looking forward to going back to work, if anything, just to clear things from her mind," the close source revealed. "Having a sense of routine and being in a busy environment will do her good, at least she hopes so."

We don't know about anyone else, but we can't wait to see the "Miss Independent" singer back on our screens in the spring. Her return has been long overdue, and we hope her break has been restful and well spent.
