The mother of country singer Spencer Hatcher, 28, was killed in a brutal home invasion in Harrisonburg, Virginia, on August 3. The singer has issued an emotional statement on social media about the terrible tragedy, canceling three upcoming concerts. Hatcher's grief and that of his family must be beyond description.

Per People, Hatcher wrote on Instagram, "It is with a heavy heart and overwhelming sadness that - due to a monumental loss in our family - I must cancel my upcoming shows at VOA Country Music Fest in Butler County, OH (8/8) and at Rockingham County Fair in Harrisonburg, VA (8/11 & 8/12). I hope to make these dates up to my fans in the future. I appreciate everyone that has lent their support to me and my loved ones. We ask that everyone please respect our family's privacy at this time."
What Befell Holly Hatcher
Per the outlet, Hatcher's mom, Holly, 62, was lethally stabbed in her home allegedly by Kevin Moses Walker, 41. Her husband, Michael, 65, mortally shot Walker in the home's driveway. One law enforcement authority, Rockingham County Sheriff Bryan Hutcheson, referred to the crime as "apparently completely random" and "highly unusual." Michael Hatcher was hurt in the violent attack.
It is believed that Walker got into the Hatchers' residence and murdered Holly Hatcher. Then, outside in the driveway, he was allegedly shot once by Michael Hatcher. The investigation is still continuing.

A joint video statement was issued by the Hatchers and the Rockinghom County Sheriff's Office. In it, Michael Hatcher expressed his heartache at the loss of his wife and gratitude to those who offered support. "There's going to be questions that will never be answered, but all I can tell you is we've cried, we've hurt, and we've hugged, and we have found more love than we have ever known has existed between us, and between you."
