The idea of a vasectomy can cause some second-hand pain and cringe for some. Performing a vasectomy on oneself, though, that's some next-level stuff straight-up from a Saw movie. That said, Taiwanese doctor Chen Wienong, wasn't "playing games" on himself when he decided to perform a self-vasectomy and then posted the video of the procedure on social media.

Dr. Chen's surgery, a vasectomy, serves to cut the supply of sperm to one's semen, according to the Mayo Clinic. A doctor would cut and seal the tubes that carry the sperm and is considered a permanent method for male birth control. The procedure is usually performed using local anesthesia and patients can leave the hospital on the very same day of the surgery, as it is considered an outpatient procedure.
However, performing a vasectomy on oneself is not something that happens very often. However, that wouldn't stop Dr. Chen, who decided to perform the surgical procedure and then share it with his more than 29 thousand followers on Instagram. "Very special experience, there won't be another time," Dr. Chen wrote.

Dr. Chen is shown performing the surgery while fully conscious, with local anesthesia numbing the area. At one point, Chen appears to be in pain, leaning back in agony. However, he continues to show the procedure, stitching himself with a suture. In total, the procedure lasted about an hour, double the length of a normal vasectomy performed by another doctor.
"It was a strange feeling to touch and suture my own urethra," Dr. Chen wrote on social media, according to the Daily Mail. The outlet stated that Dr. Chen felt pain during the night after the surgery. However, he was feeling a lot better after waking up.
Many, as expected, reacted in shock after learning about Dr. Chen's feat and watching the footage. "The patient said the doctor's surgery was successful," one user wrote. "Will there be a video of an obstetrician and gynecologist delivering her own birth later?" a second user asked.
Many questioned the legality of the self-vasectomy performed by Dr. Chen Wienong. However, the Daily Mail reports that there were no legal issues whatsoever. Moreover, Chen was supervised by another urologist during the surgery, who would have intervened if necessary.
