'Survivor' Star Jane Bright Dies At 71

"Today, Jane Hammett Bright was found passed away within her home by a good friend and county sheriff," Ashley wrote. The cause of death remains undisclosed.

Bright's vibrant personality and determination during the 2010 season of "Survivor" endeared her to fans and fellow contestants alike.

A Standout on 'Survivor: Nicaragua'

Bright competed in season 21 of "Survivor," where she shone as the oldest of 20 castaways. A dog trainer by trade, she brought a quirky, outgoing spirit to the competition. Finishing sixth, she captured hearts and won the Sprint Fan Favorite award, voted by the audience. Her tenacity and warmth left a lasting mark on the "Survivor" community.

"Survivor" places contestants in isolated settings, challenging them to secure food, fire, and shelter. They face physical and mental trials for rewards and immunity.

Contestants vote each other out until a few remain, and eliminated players choose the "Sole Survivor," who wins $1 million. Hosted by Jeff Probst, the CBS series, which premiered in 2000, stems from the Swedish "Expedition Robinson."
