It's been 25 years since Jim Carrey's "Grinch" hit cinema screens. For over 25 years, the movie has been a Christmas staple in millions of homes worldwide. For Taylor Momsen, it's the film that launched her career.

Momsen was seven years old when she starred as Cindy Lou Who alongside Carrey. And, while she's gone on to become a star in her own right, both as a singer and a member of the smash hit TV Show "Gossip Girl," it appears that she still holds fond memories of the filming process and working with Carrey.
"I just love that he was very protective of me," Momsen, now 32, told PEOPLE. "He was always very kind. And just the entire experience of filming Grinch and getting to know him so well, even in all the makeup, was just wonderful."
Due to the significant amount of makeup and wardrobe work required for Carrey's character, the movie was filmed over a 24-month span. Therefore, Momsen and Carrey likely spent a lot of time on set. Yet, despite the time they spent together, Momsen recalls not knowing what he looked like out of costume.
"I didn't know who Jim was until the premiere and someone had to point him out to me and go, 'That's Jim,' " Momsen said. "And I went, 'Oh, Jim.' "
Jim Carrey Would Be Open To Filming Another Grinch Movie
Since the "Grinch" was released, the mental and physical toll the movie took on Carrey has been well documented. The time and effort it took to get him in and out of costume was a significant burden that surely impacted the way he viewed the film at the time.
However, when speaking with ComicBook.com in 2024, Carrey noted that the advancements in CGI and how movies are produced could entice him to reprise his role.
"(I would do it) if we could figure out the Grinch...The thing about it is, on the day, I do that with a ton of makeup and can hardly breathe. It was an extremely excruciating process," Carrey said. "The children were in my mind all the time. 'It's for the kids, it's for the kids, it's for the kids.' And now, with motion capture and things like that, I could be free to do other things. Anything is possible in this world."
Whether Momesen would also reprise her role is another question entirely. Still, fans of the Christmas classic can keep hoping for another Grinch movie someday. Until then, at least Momsen and Carrey have reunited, if only briefly.
