Taylor Sheridan Opens Up About Moment 'Yellowstone' Cast Led Mutiny On Set

Yellowstone had such a cultural impact that we're still talking about it months after it ended. The bumpy production has been talked about to no end, but only now is Taylor Sheridan opening up about the mutiny the cast led in the writing room during his absence.

Taylor Sheridan recently spoke to Peter Berg, a fellow writer and producer. They spoke on a variety on topics, but what caught my attention was the cast-led mutiny against the writing room that required Sheridan to step in while directing a damn movie.

Per Gold Derby, during the production of season 3 of Yellowstone, Taylor Sheridan had to step in when the writer's room they setup failed to produce anything good. Berg asked Sheridan how he manages to just keep writing scripts all the time, which reminded Sheridan of one period of time he really was under pressure when writing.

"What ultimately happened after Wind River, Yellowstone got bought out of turnaround, and they wanted to go into production in four months, and they were trying to introduce me to [writers'] rooms," he prefaces.

"I'm reading samples, and I just think everyone's a terrible writer," he admitted. "I found myself in a situation where I was writing scripts on the weekend to shoot the next week."

Sheridan Tried Putting A Writer's Room Together For 'Yellowstone'... Mutiny Ensues

There was no time for a room, so Sheridan ended up writing all of season 2. For season 3, however, they did put one together. And quickly regretted it.

"The scripts were so bad that they called me back while I was directing this movie in New Mexico with Angie [Jolie]," he recalled.

"They said, 'You've got to help us out. The actors won't go to work. They're mutinying.' And so I wrote an episode of Yellowstone every Saturday."

What?!

How bad must the writing be for the cast to mutiny against the writers? No wonder they called him to "help" them out... which transpired in him just writing the thing for them while directing a whole movie.

Say what you will about Sheridan, he is a workhorse. And managed to keep Yellowstone from burning down prematurely.
