A little over a month ago, the 73-year-old had quintuple bypass surgery. During the entire surgery and recovery, the 35-year-old "You Belong to Me" singer, her brother Austin, 33, and their mother Andrea, who is 67 and has been with Scott for 37 years, stood by Scott's side.

Is Taylor Swift's Dad Going to Be OK?

A representative of Swift has said that Scott is feeling great. PEOPLE confirmed the news of his recoverywhich TMZ first reported

Scott's procedure occurred after he went in for a check-up and noticed something was amiss. It was not the result of a heart attack.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, heart bypass surgery "is a procedure to restore blood flow to areas of your heart." The procedure "restores blood flow by using blood vessels from other parts of your body to create a detour around blockages."

A condition that leads to this type of operation is coronary heart disease, which typically involves "a narrowing of the arteries in your heart because of a buildup of a fatty, wax-like residue called plaque. As plaque builds up on the inside of your heart's arteries, the arteries become stiffer and narrower. If an area of plaque breaks open, blood clots can form there and create blockages in those arteries."

This Isn't the First Health Scare Taylor Has Had Involving Her Parents

In an essay Swift wrote for Elle in 2019, she revealed that both her parents have had cancer. She shared the effect that it has had on her.

"I've had to learn how to handle serious illness in my family," she said. "It's taught me that there are real problems and then there's everything else."

Despite all this, Swift's parents have always been there for her, whether it has been listening to her sing karaoke or driving her to shows when she was getting started on the road to super-stardom.

They were also spotted in the audience at several dates on Swift's record-breaking "Eras Tour." During a show in London last year, Scott was seen handing out chicken fingers to fans inside Wembley Stadium.
