Mellencamp, a mother of three young children, has been battling skin cancer since 2022. Earlier this year, doctors found brain tumors after she experienced severe headaches. In her latest post, Mellencamp announced the discovery of two tumors in her lungs and three more in her brain. She will begin immunotherapy and radiation immediately.
"Update from scans today: I have multiple tumors in my brain that weren't able to be removed via surgery," she wrote. "I also have two tumors in my lung."
Mellencamp, whose father is musician John Cougar Mellencamp, said her doctors are hopeful the treatments will be effective. Despite the grim news, she expressed optimism. "I am feeling positive and excited," she wrote.
Mellencamp Receives Support
The reality star clarified that all the tumors are a result of her melanoma. She also joked about her new wig, saying, "I like the short hair, just not the bald spots." She ended the post by expressing her determination: "I am feeling positive that I will win this battle."
In the comments, fellow reality stars offered their support. Tamra Judge posted, "You are gonna kick cancer's a**, you are the strongest person I know." Kyle Richards recalled a moment after Mellencamp's surgery, saying, "You weren't quite sure what year it was, but you could still name all of Angelina Jolie's kids."
Dorit Kemsley added, "You're stronger than you realize. I know you'll win. Keep fighting." Shanna Moakler, inspired by Mellencamp's resilience, said, "Well, I'm getting on that treadmill tomorrow...you got this!"
Earlier, Mellencamp addressed questions about her return to the Two Peas In A Pod podcast with Tamra Judge. "I'm waiting for my CT scan right now," she said. "I don't actually know [when I'll return], but I'm listening to what the doctors and my bosses think is best."
Despite the uncertainty, Mellencamp remains focused on her health. "When you have four brain tumors...you have to protect yourself," she said. "But of course, I miss the pod. I miss chatting with Tam."
