Texas State Trooper Leaves Blemish on Texas A&M Win After Being Sent Home

The Texas State Trooper bumped and shoved two South Carolina players following a second-quarter touchdown, and was therefore sent home.

Texas A&M fans will remember Saturday, Nov. 15, fondly, as it was the day the team secured the largest comeback in its history. The Aggies trailed South Carolina 30-3 at halftime; however, led by a career night from quarterback Marcel Reed, who threw for 439 yards and three touchdowns, the Aggies won the game 31-30.

Unfortunately, there was a subplot to the game that dominated the headlines. When Kyle Field, a junior wide receiver, scored a touchdown in the second quarter, his momentum took him into the tunnel. When walking back toward the field, with three of his teammates, he encountered a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper.

That trooper bumped into Field and running back Oscar Adaway III. The tooper allegedly shoved the players during the altercation. Shortly after the incident, Texas A&M campus police advised that the trooper had been relieved of his duties for the day and had been sent home.

"We are aware of the incident in the NE tunnel involving a DPS trooper. He has been relieved of his game day assignment."

The Texas Department of Public Safety also provided an update.

"Our Office of Inspector General (OIG) is also aware of the incident and will be further looking into the matter. No additional information will be released at this time."

LeBron James Weighed in on the Incident Involving the Trooper

As the incident occurred, LeBron James shared his thoughts via X, formerly known as Twitter.

"That A&M cop needs to be suspended!" James wrote. "That was premeditated and corny AF!! He went out his way to start some s--t. Do better man."

James was just one of multiple celebrities to share their frustration with the incident. Chipper Jones, formerly of the Atlanta Braves, also shared his thoughts.

"This idiot needs to be unemployed tmrw.....clown !," Jones wrote on X. "This ain't a high school football game....BOY!"

It was clearly unnecessary and took the focus off the actual game.

Nevertheless, Texas A&M fans would have gone home happy, as the team extended its hot start to the season to 10-0. As for the Gamecocks, they will likely rue a missed opportunity, having enjoyed a substantial lead at the half.

Still, fans will undoubtedly want an update as to the punishment the Trooper receives. Whether that happens will remain to be seen.
