Dolly Parton is a woman that always knows what she wants. It's one of her strongest qualities, a firm vision in what she wants for herself. She has tremendous faith in her ideas and it's important for her to keep people around her that share that vision. That's not to say that you should get rid of anyone that detracts from you. Rather, it's essential to realize who is earnestly trying to see if the blueprint would work or not.

In Parton's case, Dollywood seemed like an incredible risk. On paper, a country star's take on Disneyworld seems incredibly ambitious and has a great chance of backfiring. However, the benefit of hindsight shows us that Dolly was on point gunning for this idea. She believed in it so deeply where she apparently got rid of all her lawyers and accountants who tried to sway her away from the idea.
Dolly Parton Cans Her Team That Didn't Believe in Dollywood
Recently, Parton spoke with Forbes upon reopening her lauded amusement park Dollywood. There, she recalls the bold decision to let go a large majority of her team that didn't believe in the idea. "When I first had the big idea to start Dollywood, my accountants and lawyers all thought I was making a big mistake. But I felt a calling to do this," Dolly explains. "So I got rid of all of them and brought in people who had faith in me. I told them, 'You need to listen to what my dreams are. I don't need to dream your dreams; you need to help me carry out mine.'"
That might seem a little rash and it's understandable why some people might've had some hesitation. However, Dolly stresses that a true understanding of self will sharpen your intuition and make your gut feeling worth standing by, for better or worse. "It's been a long time, but now I know to go by what I feel. I'd rather do without it than do it wrong," Parton says. "I think it's amazing what's happened through the years. If you live long enough with a good reputation, you can build your brand, and people know they can trust that. I take a lot of pride in that."
