The ACM Awards are fast approaching. The untouchable King, George Strait, holds the most ACM wins for a male solo artist. However, a contender for this title has arisen.

No matter what, George Strait will remain the King of Country Music. Fewer and fewer country fans are putting stock into these award ceremonies. People like what they like, and awards from organizations, folks simply don't really trust anymore, won't change anyone's opinions.
However, it's no surprise that George Strait holds the most male solo artist wins. He currently holds 24, which is a lot of awards. But after the ceremony on May 8, this may be a second-place figure.
Thanks to information gathered by VegasInsider.com and shared to WOC, we can find out the artist who threatens Strait's reign.
And he's up there in the photo jamming out with the King himself. It's Chris Stapleton.
Chris Stapleton currently holds 20 ACM awards, but, he's nominated for 6 awards. He'll have to win five of them, which is a tall order, but if he does, he'll be the undisputed lead. 25 or 26 will mark Chris Stapleton as having the most ACM awards as a solo male artist.
As George Strait is not up for any ACM Awards this year, he can't extend his lead or combat Stapleton's advance.
The Other ACM Milestone Chris Stapleton Could Hit This Year
Chris Stapleton could have a very eventful ACM Awards this year. He has a good chance to break the record held by George Strait, and in the process, could be hitting another ACM milestone.
Chris Stapleton could be joining the upper-echelon of country high society. If he wins Male Artist of the Year, then he'll have won the award 5 times. This puts him firmly in the club of artists who have won the award five or more times.
There isn't a cool term for this bracket of country artists, so I'm going to dub it 'The Five-Timers Country Club.' No, it's not funny or amusing, so if you have a better name, feel free to email me.
Others in The Five-Timers Country Club are George Strait, Brad Paisley, and Merle Haggard (who's actually won 6 times, making him the de facto Five-Timers Country Club leader).
I'd love to see Chris Stapleton breach these ranks.
