Gavin Adcock might have a lot of opinions on what makes something country, but he certainly had no problem bringing Afroman, a rapper, out onto the stage during his set at the Rock the Country Festival.

The festival featured names like Kid Rock, Nickelback, and Hudson Westbrook alongside Afroman and Adcock. Although Adcock could have probably picked anyone at the festival to pair up with, he decided to bring out the popular rapper, who came out dressed in red, white, and blue. The duo sang a rendition of Afroman's "Crazy Rap", and the audience went ham for it.
The 25-year-old country singer, who recently shared his thoughts publicly on Beyoncé's new country album, is currently on his "Need To Know" tour. He's out promoting the release of his latest album, Own Worst Enemy, which sat just below Beyonce's on the Apple Music country charts not too long ago.
In a video from one of Adcock's recent shows, he decided it would be a good idea to discuss the rankings live with his audience. Mentioning that "That sh- ain't country music and it ain't ever been country music, and it ain't gonna be country music." Before moving on to his next song, he told the audience, "We're about to play some southern f-in rock" and raised a beer into the sky.
Gavin Adcock Addresses His Earlier Comments on Beyoncé
While the audience at the show seemed supportive of Adcock's opinions, many people online weren't too pleased—namely, the BeyHive fan base. Many made comments like, "I don't even know who he is," and "He will never be on Beyonce's level."
More recently, the country singer, who's set to open for Morgan Wallen on two dates of his I'm The Problem tour, responded to some of the comments that had been made. He took to social media to set his story straight.
"I'm gonna go ahead and clear this up," he told Instagram. "When I was a little kid, my mama was blasting some Beyoncé in the car. I've heard a ton of Beyonce songs and I actually remember her Super Bowl halftime show being pretty kick-a-back in the day. But I really don't believe that her album should be labeled as country music."
Adcock went on to say that Beyonce's album "doesn't sound country, it doesn't feel country, and I just don't think that people that have dedicated their whole lives to this genre and this lifestyle should have to compete or watch that album just stay at the top, just because she's Beyoncé."
Although many people are still unsure about their feelings regarding the Beyoncé comments from Adcock, people did seem to enjoy his duet with American rapper Afroman. One thing's for sure: at a Gavin Adcock show, you know what you're getting into, and there's never a dull moment.
