Singer-songwriter John Morgan has penned some of Jason Aldean's biggest hits. Morgan is one of the writers on 16 Aldean songs, including recent hit singles "That's What Tequila Does" and "Trouble With A Heartbreak," along with Aldean's No. 1 duet, "If I Didn't Love You" with Carrie Underwood.

When asked on Taste of Country Nights if Morgan had received any specific gift like a watch, Morgan replied that he had not, although he did receive a Night Train Ranch cap. Fortunately, Morgan is still being well taken care of by Aldean. In 2022, Aldean signed him to his own Night Train Records. The label is part of BBR Music Group, where Aldean has been since his eponymous debut album came out 20 years ago.
"He's been cool to me, man," Morgan says. "He gave me a little bonus when I signed [to his label], so I'm milking that still."
It's generous, but Aldean can certainly afford it. The 48-year-old reportedly makes a cool $1,000,000 per show.
Jason Aldean's "Whiskey Drink" Single
Aldean and Morgan are both competing for the top spot on the charts right now, sort of. Morgan is in the No. 3 spot with his single, 'Friends Like That," a collaboration with Aldean. Meanwhile, Aldean is two spots behind him, at No. 5, with his "Whiskey Drink" single, which Morgan co-wrote. The song is from Aldean's 2023 Highway Desperado record.
It's a perfect song to play live, which Aldean will have plenty of chances to do later this year. In May, the Georgia native will embark on his massive Full Throttle Tour. The tour wraps up in October.
"I think when I look back on it, I built my career early on my live show, and have been on the road touring since I was 18 years old," Aldean says. "For us, touring is our favorite part. Getting on the bus and going town to town and playing our shows and doing our thing and seeing the fans... the title for the tour and album was really inspired from that,"
Aldean will be joined on his Full Throttle Tour by Nate Smith, RaeLynn, and Dee Jay Silver.
