Vince Shlomi, also known as the "ShamWow" guy, is running for Texas's 31st Congressional District, and has already filed his papers

Infomercials are synonymous with American television. They've even begun to infiltrate social media as the rise in live social shopping continues. Therefore, you've likely seen the "ShamWow" adverts. In turn, that means you're probably familiar with Vince Shlomi, also known as the "ShamWow Guy."

Well, if you're in Texas, you're about to get to know him a whole lot more. When speaking with Fox News Digital on Sunday, Nov. 24, Shlomi shared how he entered the political world. The shammy-seller has recently filed his congressional bid.

The infomercial savant is running as a Republican and hopes to represent Texas's 31st Congressional District. According to Shlomi, the driving force behind his bid is to "destroy wokeism." He also noted that his run is a tribute to the late Charlie Kirk, calling him the original "woke buster."

Shlomi, 61, is now one of five candidates looking to fill  Congressman John Carter's seat. However, Carter, 84, is reportedly seeking re-election. As such, Shlomi faces fierce competition in the political race. Nevertheless, the Israeli-American entrepreneur will likely push forward with his bid, as he aims to "make America happy."

Vince Shlomi Created the "ShamWow"

Shlomi created and marketed the "ShamWow" back in the early 2000s. The super-absorbent towel is known to hold several times its bodyweight in liquid. It's been a staple on infomercials for decades, and is still heavily marketed on social media, both in the US and across Europe.

Of course, Shlomi has branched out beyond his initial offer as he's gotten more established in the infomercial world. He's also been known to push the "SlamChop" among other viral-selling items.

It's that sales experience that Shlomi will likely lean on as he prepares to get his bid off the ground. After all, he's got decades of experience in convincing people to invest in things they don't really need, and isn't that part of being a politician?

Of course, stepping into the political arena at 61, with no prior experience, means Shlomi is fighting on the back foot. But, with a minor celebrity status, and a clear plan on how he wants to shape his policies, it appears he's prepared for the fight.
