The Song That Sheryl Crow's Kids Called Cringey

It's incredibly rare for kids to find their parents cool. There's a wide variety of reasons for this. Most prominently, adults slowly stop caring about their perception as much. There's a real liberty to this, they usually feel more confident with age or they just give up trying to be cool altogether. Meanwhile, kids are incredibly self conscious about themselves and how they come across to others. Even if they're self aware, it's still all about trying to find themselves and be cool. This is how you end up with situations like Sheryl Crow's kids finding her lame. In fact, there's one song of hers in particular they find cringey.

Recently, Crow spoke to Variety where she opens up about her home life with her kids Wyatt and Levi. The former is 18, heading for college in a year, while the latter is still in high school at 15 years old. She admits that she cherishes her time with her kids too much to work in a full time capacity, aka record new music. Additionally, they don't want to go on the road with her mom, Sheryl, either. It probably doesn't help that they cringe at some of her songs.

Sheryl Crow Reveals Which Song Her Kids Find 'Cringey'

Crow does reveal that her kids actually do like her music. For instance, "Alarm Clock" seems to be a constant in the household. "I actually played 'Alarm Clock' for them because that's the first song that came out on the record," Sheryl says on Late Night with Seth Meyers in March 2023. "It's about how much I hate my alarm clock, and it literally was inspired by 13-year-old Levi, because we are not morning people. Across the board. Wyatt jumps out of bed. He's like, 'Days on, let's go.'"

However, "Broken Record" does not get much play with Sheryl and the kids. Apparently, they find it too 'cringey,' just like her interest in exploring TikTok. "I also wrote a song called 'Broken Record,' and I played it for them and they were like, 'Mom, you can not put that on your record. No.' Same with TikTok, 'Mom, you can not be on TikTok. That is so cringey,'" Crow says.
