When people think of rehab, it can be easy to forget that physical activity and sports play a big role in the process. Physical exertion and exercise do wonders for the brain, and sport is typically more enjoyable than straight exercise.
When talking to PEOPLE, Ingrid Andress spoke about her time recovering in rehab after her national anthem rendition. She checked herself into rehab the day after, ready to combat the alcohol consumption behind her poor performance.
She shared to the outlet that she quickly realized it's not necessarily the drinking that's the problem, but the cause behind reaching for the bottle. "It's less about what you're using, and it's about the why. Why am I using that? What are you hoping it's going to fix?"
Part of the process of tackling her drinking was diving into her past, something she didn't want to visit. "I felt so raw. I was like, I don't think this is the best time to be talking about this because I'm crying every day. But it ended up being such a healing time because I actually had the space to completely fall apart."
While Andress was delving into her past inside the establishment, she was making sure to keep busy and active outside.
Ingrid Andress Took To Pickleball While In Rehab
"I got really good at pickleball," she told the outlet. I'm sure you're all familiar with the strangest entry in the racquet sport series, well it turns out Ingrid Andress really enjoyed playing it during her time there.
She never disclosed if she still plays pickleball outside of rehab; she'd be a fierce opponent now.
If you completely ignore the possibility of there being other racquet sports at the establishment, it makes sense that pickleball was the only one available. The court size is small, the balls aren't hit at terminal velocities, and it's real hard to take it seriously.
The singer ultimately enjoyed her time in rehab and grew from her time there. But as absurd as the following statement is, I really want to see her in action. She can't just say she got real good at pickleball and not show us her moves.
