America is built on many tenuous foundations. I would argue that one of those is the mighty hamburger. The humble meat sandwich is fundamental in the culture of the US people, feeding generations, and collectively shortening their subsequent life expectancy. But, where is the cheapest hamburger in the great US of A available so you can show your patriotism without breaking the bank?

Many of you may remember the Dollar Menu at McDonald's in the early 2000s. I don't recall when that ended exactly, but I feel it phased out in the mid-2010s. That was the golden age of bargain hamburgers and had a number of McDonald's sandwiches for a dollar.
Now, though, McDonald's, which has reportedly had a 100% price increase in a decade, is no longer the cheapest hamburger in America. That title goes to both Wendy's and Burger King. The cheeseburger at the former, and Jr. cheeseburger at the latter, both cost only $1.99.
Cheapest But Not The Most Cheerful Hamburger In America
I'm not a Burger King fan. Wendy's sure, they have some good food, but Burger King is always a disappointment. The Whopper is never what I remember it to be, and their ingredients just never hit the spot. So, although they may serve the cheapest hamburger in America, I wouldn't opt for it. I would be more likely to spend a few extra cents and get something worth eating.
More often than not, if I am looking to penny pinch, I'll use the various apps the fast food chains used to rope me in, sell me more food, and then sell my data. If it means I get discount food, you can have my Social Security number for all I care. It's a harsh economic climate out here, and a man has to eat.
A single hamburger isn't the cheapest option in America these days. Now, with the various deals out there, buying meals often equates to more food for less. Sure, you only went in for one humble cheeseburger. But, for only a few dollars more, you can get nuggets, fries, and a drink. Oh, and would you look at that, an ice cream is only a dollar extra.
Boom. What should have been a $1.99 cheeseburger snack is now a $6 meal. Sucker.
