The Top 5 New Country Songs This Week — And No, Megan Moroney Isn't On It

The weekend is nigh, which means we need to rank the top five country songs released since last Friday. It's been real difficult getting the top five this week. And no, Megan Moroney's latest hit isn't on the list. Which can't be said for most lists like this out there.

If this isn't enough for you, you can always check out last week's list. Chancey William's latest single is still in heavy rotation for me.

We now have 80 songs on our incredible Spotify playlist. Make sure to save to stay on top of the best country releases.

This week's a doozy. I must warn you, this week's list is injected with a lot more rock and roll than usual.

1. Folsom Prison (F--k You Brandon Wayne)

"Folsom Prison (F--k You Brandon Wayne)" by Brandon Wayne is a brilliant reimagining on the Johnny Cash classic. I have far too much to say about the song, but thankfully, I've already unloaded all of my thoughts on what is a poetic and powerful song when you strip down the layers.

Taking "Folsom Prison Blues" and injecting it with a healthy dose of rock and roll, Brandon Wayne delivers a song that'll keep you on your toes. It's a riot of a song, and has more depth than meets the eye.

2. How To Quit

"How To Quit" by The Joe Stamm Band is a song as hard-hitting as it is moving. All the parts of this song move together in a beautiful current that will sweep you away.

The piano and electric guitar pair perfectly to add a tragic depth to the grave vocals. It's another song that leans into the rock side of things, but the country tones are undeniable. I can't get enough of it.

3. Bet The Farm

"Bet The Farm" by The Vegabonds from their Young & Unafraid album is a killer of a song. It immediately sets a pace that tells you everything you need to know about the song.

It's unapologetically fun and provides a great time every time. It's my favorite song from the album for sure. The swampy country twang thrown in elevates the song to #3 status.

4. Lonely Over You

Okay, we can calm down a little now. "Lonely Over You" by William Beckmann is a beautiful song that I couldn't ignore. Part of the Whiskey Lies & Alibis album, this suave song spoke to be more than the others.

His silky smooth voice blankets the powerful untones of the lyrics. It's a great song that is a brilliant display of his vocal abilities.

5. All I've Ever Known

"All I've Ever Known" by Hilary Hawke is a song I kept coming back to. It is a country song through and through, and hits like a fresh breeze to the soul. The expert instrumentals make the song addictive. Expect to be impressed at every turn.

The message, the melody, and her voice come together to create a true country ditty. One that's always a pleasure to listen to.

Best EP — Tough Love

The Tough Love EP by Elizabeth Nichols is an EP I've thoroughly enjoyed listening to this week. It's full of important messages, hooking stories, and fun songs. My favorite is "Bible Belt," for I find the song incredibly relatable. The message there is far too relevant to not mention.

"Tough Love" itself is a good song with a very powerful and overt message that I'm sure the right people will find lots of truth in.

It's a brilliant EP full of quality songs.

That'll do it for this week, everyone. Thank you for joining me. Make sure to check back in next time for even more country music.
