Luke Bryan has won plenty of awards in his career. But one he has not won is Song of the Year. It's a bummer, because he thinks he definitely could have won the award a couple of times.

"I think when I look at a 'Drink A Beer' or 'Most People Are Good' those were my opportunities at songs that I thought would be up for Song of the Year," Bryan says Bobby Bones' Bobbycast podcast (via Taste of Country). "And I never got a Song of the Year."
The Georgia native is known for fun singles like "Country Girl (Shake It For Me)," "Rain Is A Good Thing," and more. He admits he was disappointed that he didn't get acknowledged for his more serious, heartfelt songs.
"That's when I was kind of like, 'Man, I really thought those would at least get nominated for something," Bryan says. "And they never did."
Bryan eventually realized that the songs, although big hits, were not going to get any industry recognition. Fortunately, it freed him up to truly make the kind of music he wants to make.
"At this point at my career, I just need to be free with what I do," he says.
Luke Bryan's "Country Song Came On" Single
What he is doing is clearly working for him. The American Idol judge has a Top 30 single with "Country Song Came On." The song, from his latest Mind Of A Country Boy album, could be his 32nd No 1 single. It is also the name of his upcoming tour, which begins on May 29 in Bethel, New York.
"'Country Song Came On' is like a honky tonk gem for me," Bryan says. "When I heard it, I was like, it brings me back to the days when I was playing a lot of honky tonks early in my career. And the fact that I was able to put ETC, which is a nod to Earl Thomas Conley, one of my favorite artists ever, just makes me smile every time I hear it. And this song will definitely make you want to drink a draft beer."
Bryan's massive tour features a rotating list of opening acts, including George Birge, Drake Milligan, Randall King, among others.
