Jamey Johnson usually tends to stay to himself. I mean, he vanished from country for over a decade, 14 years to be exact. It wasn't until his album Midnight Gasoline late in 2024 that he came back, which he credits to Toby Keith. But we don't usually get a ton of information out of him otherwise. However, what we do know is he has quite the sense of humor. Matthew McConaughey can account for that personally.

On the day of the NFL Super Bowl in 2024, the Dazed & Confused star posted on Instagram about gambling. With shaggy hair and dark sunglasses, he recalls a time he made a bet with Jamey Johnson around the BCS National Championship game in 2010. McConaughey obviously represents for the Texas Longhorns as an Austin local. Johnson, though, was all about the Alabama Crimson Tide. Whoever lost had to donate to the winner's chosen charity. Obviously, Alabama, the juggernaut they were, win that game handily and the actor had to pay the pied piper.
Jamey Johnson Makes Matthew McConaughey Pay His Bet in a Hilarious Way
This might not seem super noteworthy until you realize which organization Jamey made the Interstellar lead pay. "I had a bet with Jamey Johnson once, a country musician, great musician and he won the bet and we said before the bet, whoever wins we'll give the $300 dollars to the winner's favorite charity," McConaughey recalls.
"He won, but his charity was Gamblers Anonymous. So we sent them the $300 and told them the little story and Gamblers Anonymous said 'we can not take this donation. We cannot receive these funds because of the way you got them,'" McConaughey adds.
He doesn't quite clear up how or if he made the wager right with Jamey Johnson after Gamblers Anonymous said no. Regardless, that's a hilarious way to burn someone on their betting.
