Tim McGraw has acted in several films, roles he may not have ever had if not for one encounter. McGraw has starred in hit movies like Friday Night Lights, Flicka, The Blind Side, and more. But his first acting job was in Black Cloud, out in 2004. McGraw now admits he didn't actually want the job, but felt talked into it because of who asked him.

"I wasn't looking do to movies. In fact, I kind of got cornered into the first one I did," McGraw tells Tracy Lawrence on his Road House podcast (via American Songwriter).
"I played Arizona, and Rick Schroder, one of the nicest guys in the world, came to my show," he continues. "He came to my dressing room and started talking to me, and he says, 'I'm doing my very first direction on this movie called Black Cloud, and I'd really like you to play the sheriff in it.'"
At the time, McGraw admits he was not at all interested, but didn't have the heart to say no.
"I was like, 'I might do a movie down the road,'" McGraw says. "But the worst thing you can do is go suck at something and ruin your career. I didn't really want to do the movie. I wasn't ready for it yet, but he was so nice I couldn't say no to him."
Tim McGraw's Successful Career In Country Music
McGraw has had a career that has spanned more than 30 years. McGraw has had numerous hit singles, even if what he sings about has changed. Now, McGraw says he is no longer comfortable singing about some of the things he sang about early in his career.
"You don't wanna sing about tailgates and bikinis when you're 58 years old," McGraw tells Lawrence. "Occasionally, you do if the song is right. But for me, it's like, what song is going to teach me a lesson? What song is gonna make me learn something about myself? And what song can I sing, that I interpret, that's believable?"
McGraw is also now concerned with the message in his music, more than in the past.
"I'll throw a fun ditty song in every now and then," he says. "I'll throw a fun love song in every now and then, I'll throw a fun cheating song in every now and then, but I'm always looking for a life affirmation song."
