Toby Keith Honored With Posthumous Gold & Platinum RIAA Certifications

It's almost been a full year since everyone lost Toby Keith. Although his spirit clearly remains, as the singer continues to gain Gold and Platinum RIAA certifications.

It was February when Toby Keith died at 67 years old after suffering from stomach cancer. His passing seems to have impacted everyone, for people are listening to his music so much that they're reaching new milestones.

The posthumous listening has granted songs, for the first time or otherwise, Gold or Platinum status. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) grants these certifications based on the number of sales and streams different records and albums get.

RIAA awards a Gold certification to tracks or albums that receive 500,000 streams or sales. For a Platinum certification, however, a track or album must achieve 1,000,000.

Throughout this year, some of his albums and singles have achieved these milestones, because that's how much the audiences have missed him.

Toby Keith Keeps Earning RIAA Certifications Even After His Death

Toby Keith's album Should've Been A Cowboy reached four-times Platinum earlier this year, which is insane.

Also, his songs "Beer For My Horses" and "I Love This Bar" achieved three-times Platinum.

As for first-timers, his American Ride album went Platinum, and Keith's song "Who's Your Daddy?" and his album Bullets in the Gun achieved Gold status.

His songs "God Love Her," "Cryin' For Me (Wayman's Song)," "American Ride," "Who's That Man" and "Trailerhood," also went Platinum.

What a tribute to Toby Keith's impact. An artist gaining this many certifications in such a short span is unheard of, and it just speaks to how much people are listening to his music.

From old fans to new fans, Keith's glowing career in country music has gained a new lease on life following his tragic departure. If only he were still around to celebrate with his fans and family.

Keith still gets over 6.6 million listeners on Spotify alone, and I don't think that listenership will dwindle anytime soon.

Posthumously, on October 4th, his Christmas To Christmas album was remastered, and it features a slew of Toby Keith festive hits. It's the closest thing we'll get to a new album drop from the Big Dog Daddy.
