Toby Keith Gifts Wounded Veteran With All-Terrain Wheelchair

Wounded veteran Brandon Rumbaugh benefited from country music star Toby Keith's charitable spirit and unwavering patriotism when Keith gifted the retired Marine corporal who'd served valiantly across the world with an all-terrain wheelchair.

Keith teamed with The Independence Fund, a nonprofit that helps empower severely-wounded veterans, to gift the $16,000 all-terrain trackchair to Rumbaugh.

"While with the 1st Battalion, 8th Marines in Afghanistan, Brandon stepped on an IED as he was carrying a fellow Marine to safety, resulting in the loss of both of his legs. Following his retirement, he was awarded a Navy Commendation Medal with a V for Valor," The Independence Fund shared in a Facebook post.

Rumbaugh received the special gift in late September during a show at Highmark Stadium in Pittsburgh. The marine got his own private meet and greet with the "American Soldier" and had backstage passes for the show, allowing him to watch a world-class entertainer from the side of the stage. Rumbaugh even got to take home Keith's red, white and blue guitar.

Per a post by Home For Our Troops, Rumbaugh is currently pursuing a business degree at Penn State.  His future goals include competing in the weightlifting division in the Paralympic Games.

It wasn't the first time Keith used his platform to support our troops. His involvement with causes comparable to The Independence Fund predate the post-9/11 string of songs that still helps define the Nashville hit-maker.
