It has been revealed by former teammates that Tom Brady really disliked Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson's use of Twitter many years ago.
Tom Brady Really Hated One Teammate's Use Of Social Media
Considering just how popular Ochocinco was, however, it's no wonder he was always on the phone on Twitter.
"Tom absolutely hated [Ochocinco] at first," Gronkowski said, before correcting himself, "well, didn't hate him, but hated that he was on Twitter."
Ochocinco was the first NFL player to hit 1 million followers and had achieved 3 million by 2012.
Brady and Coach Belichick were just always grillin' him, going like 'Oh, get off freaking Twitter, it doesn't help you.'" I've taken this to believe that they had a problem with him being on his phone all the time in case it distracted him or divided his attention and concentration.
But Gronkowski then said, "It never really affected his game, back then, they just acted like it did."
Ochocinco Still Just About Has More Followers Than Tom Brady On Twitter
Well, now it's called X, but whatever.
Hearing about this funny story, I just had to check out their current social media followings.
Naturally, Tom Brady has much more combined followers on Instagram and X than Ochocinco, but hilariously, Ochocinco has more X followers than Tom Brady. Let's compare.
On X (formerly Twitter), Tom Brady has 3 million followers. Ochocinco, however, has 3.1 million followers. A close call, but a lead nonetheless.
On Instagram, though, the figures are much different. Tom Brady has 15.1 million followers, where Ochocinco has 2.2 million.
So Tom Brady, the former Twitter grouch, has amassed a huge social media following. I can understand how having teammates that don't appear 100% focused is frustrating. However, as Edelman adds on to the story, "Chad did what Chad did," and was an exception to this.
