Tom Selleck Wants To Team Up With 'Yellowstone' Creator After 'Blue Bloods'

Tom Selleck, who played Frank Reagan for 15 years in Blue Bloods, has expressed that his next career step may be with Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan. Or, at the very least, he wants it to be.

After 15 years, CBS announced that they'd cancel Blue Bloods after an impressive 15-year run in November 2023. Although Selleck was a little displaced by the news, he's often reflected on how grateful he is for the experience that's occupied over a decade of his life.

But without a gig like Blue Bloods, Selleck needs something else. Although he's 79, he isn't ready for retirement (much like Ted Danson).

The actor was interviewed recently by Parade, he expressed how he'd love to work with Taylor Sheridan.

He candidly said, "A good Western's always on my list. I miss that; I want to sit on a horse again."

Selleck has expressed he wants something different next, "'What do you want to do next?' I'm not sure. I don't want to do Frank Reagan II."

In the interview, he mentioned Taylor Sheridan, namely the Yellowstone spin-off 1883, which he worked on with Sam Elliot.

The outlet reminded him of Sheridan and Elliot's project, and asked whether he'd want to work them them. "Sam was great in [1883], Sam's always great. We go way, way back. I love him dearly. I'd love to work with Sam," he replied.

Tom Selleck Wishes To Act In A Western Next, Although Isn't Getting Many Offers

At the beginning of the interview, Tom Selleck admitted, "I wouldn't say [offers] are pouring in, but maybe some people are thinking of me." Let's hope in light of the interview, his buddy Sam Elliot reaches out and gets him involved with Sheridan.

Although Yellowstone itself is coming to a close real soon, Sheridan has really hit his stride as his shows dominate TV screens. He's definitely not done, not by a long shot, leaving a place potentially open for Selleck to join in.

In the interview, Selleck was asked about what it's like to not be working now that Blue Bloods is over. "The hardest part for me is we had the Blue Bloods family and we had the actors' family. They're all my pals. I miss them. It's going to take a lot of getting used to," Selleck responded.

Let's hope the actor gets back on his feet soon.
