Travis Kelce Teases NFL Retirement After The Super Bowl

Travis Kelce has one of the most illustrious football careers you could ever ask want. He's one of the five best tight ends to ever play in the NFL, alongside Tony Gonzalez, Rob Gronkowski, and Antonio Gates. Moreover, most players dream of being apart of a dynasty like the Kansas City Chiefs. However, at 35, Travis only has but so much left in the tank. This year, you could visibly tell that age has been a factor in his play, a little bit slower, a little less dynamic. Evidently, he can tell too. That's why he's teasing the idea of retirement himself.

Recently, NFL reporter Ian Rapoport shares that Travis Kelce hasn't quite made his mind up about playing football after this season. It's not that he doesn't want to but that he knows there are other priorities in his life. When a reporter asks where he'll be in three years, Travis is pretty candid. "Hopefully still playing football. I love doing this, I love coming into work every day. I feel like I still got a lot of good football left in me," Kelce says.

Travis Kelce Might Retire From Football After This Year's Super Bowl

"We'll see what happens. I know I've been setting myself up for other opportunities in my life. That's always been the goal, knowing that football only lasts for so long," Travis continues.

A lot of this decision hinges on what happens after the Super Bowl. You can't ask for much more of a storybook ending than retiring as the only dynasty to win 3 straight super bowls. At that point, what else is there to accomplish if you're Travis Kelce? Rapoport's report states that the Kansas City star will make his decision at some point before March 12 when NFL free agency starts.

If he decides that it's time to hang it up, Kelce will still have plenty of opportunities off the field. He has his high profile relationship with his girlfriend Taylor Swift, his podcast with his brother Jason, and a myriad of other options. Hell, he was even hosting the new rendition of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? I guess we'll see if the Chiefs pull away in the Super Bowl and how the game impacts Kelce's decision.
