Trisha Yearwood Reveals Why She Released Two Albums This Year: “Something Just Kind of Clicked”

Trisha Yearwood is a powerhouse. In a recent interview, the country star reveals what inspired her to put out two projects in 2025.

Trisha Yearwood has had quite the year. The country icon is now 61 and busier than ever, cooking up new music and recipes in her 2025 cookbook, Trisha's Kitchen: Easy Comfort Food for Friends and Family. In an interview with the Biscuits & Jam podcast, she reflected on her early career, before she knew just how busy music would keep her.

"When you make your first album in your career, you're home all the time because no one knows who you are yet," she shared. "And then if you're lucky enough to be successful, you're really busy. So making that next record is usually really hard."

Yearwood released her first album, a self-titled project, in 1991. The album's debut single, "She's In Love With The Boy", rose to the top of the charts and went No. 1, making the young country singer the first female country artist in 27 years to reach that milestone.

In 2025, Yearwood released not one, but two albums. The first being her project, The Mirror, which she was a co-writer on, and then Christmastime in November. "I've had a really busy year. I was gonna make another record and ended up making two," she admitted. "It was really around 2022 that I started kinda flexing the songwriter muscle." That's when she said that, "Something just kind of clicked, and I started writing a lot."

It was through The Mirror, released in July, that she gained an unexpected sense of confidence. Her Christmas record, as it turned out, was actually already planned.

"I already had the plan to make a Christmas album, and then I had to fit in this regular album, too, but it's been so wonderful," Yearwood shared.

What's Next For Trisha Yearwood

If you thought 2025 was a big year for this country star, think again. Next year, Yearwood's schedule is more packed than ever, as she continues to promote the release of The Mirror with an extended version and a 15-date tour.

In an interview with Jen Hatmaker, Yearwood explained that the inspiration for the title of the album actually came from a place of insecurity at first. "In my experience, we, as women, are so hard on ourselves," she shared. "We pick ourselves apart. But have you ever passed yourself in a mirror and, not realizing it was you, thought, 'She looks strong, or confident'—something you'd never say about yourself? That thought inspired the song: about reaching a place where you talk to yourself like a best friend, not your worst enemy."

The extended deluxe version of The Mirror is set to drop on January 23, 2025.
