The Rush Hour film franchise first made waves in 1998 with its first film, which went on to gross over $245 million worldwide. As a byproduct, Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker became household names for their performances in the buddy-cop genre. Rush Hour 2 and Rush Hour 3 followed, and since 2007, the world has been without new content from the comedic duo. Now, Donald Trump is pushing for a Rush Hour 4, and he might actually make it happen.

It's no secret that Trump has friends in high places. By high places, I mean Paramount Media, which has plans to take over Warner's movie catalog and production company. What's in that catalog? Well, part of it includes all films released by New Line Cinema, which is now a subsidiary of Warner. Of course, one of the film franchises under New Line Cinema is the Rush Hour series. Larry Ellison, who owns Paramount, has been in cahoots with the president, according to Semafor Media.
It doesn't seem like the film franchise's leading men would be entirely opposed to a fourth film either. In fact, in 2022, the duo was reportedly looking at scripts, but Chan felt the ones he saw at the time didn't do the series justice. "We're talking about part four right now," he said at the Red Sea International Film Festival. "But the script isn't right. I don't want to do a rubbish script." Tucker has also expressed in interviews that he'd love to work with Chan again.
Trump Wants Controversial Director Brett Ratner To Direct
So, if there were to be a Rush Hour 4, who would direct? Brett Ratner, who directed the first three films, watched his career come to a standstill in 2017 when he was the recipient of multiple sexual misconduct allegations. So, obviously not him, right? Well, that's where the situation gets a little sticky.
According to Movie Webb, Trump already has connections to the series' director, who's been hard at work on a $40 million documentary about Melania Trump for Amazon Prime. Interestingly enough, this is actually the first project Ratner's been involved in since the sexual assault allegations in 2017, and now, it seems, Trump wants him to get to work on Rush Hour 4.
It's undetermined whether or not a quadrilogy will actually take place, but regardless, it seems like the president wants to make it happen. On a recent red carpet, Jackie Chan made it known that he's starting to feel impatient. "Hurry up! Otherwise, Chris Tucker and me [will be] 100 years old. We'll be old men doing Rush Hour," he shared. Trump better get to it, because it seems like some people aren't willing to wait.
