The music business is highly competitive. That is a simple fact. Everyone wants to have a chart-topping single and hold sell-out concerts. But the more I learn about country music and talk to artists in that sphere, both established and emerging, something else definitely seems clear. There is also a closeness and a sense of community among those who make their living and reputation by singing, songwriting, and recording country. That kinship is ironclad. People are there for each other, in good times and bad. It's sort of a 'we're all in this together' mentality. I respect that immensely. I would venture a guess that singing star Cyndi Thomson does as well. Two of the biggest, most respected names in the business have been and are very supportive of her.

Cyndi Thomson Is Friends With Vince Gill And Trisha Yearwood
Wide Open Country spoke to Cyndi Thomson a few weeks ago about her new EP, Acres of Diamonds, and her exciting comeback. She happened to mention two of her country music friends that she looks up to and appreciates greatly - Trisha Yearwood and Vince Gill. They are undoubtedly among the classiest, most gifted performers in the genre. Thomson described them in the most flattering terms because they are people of enormous character and heart. She knows it first-hand.

Thomson said, "Trisha Yearwood has always been someone that I've really looked up to. Not only because she's from Georgia. As a young girl, I was from Georgia. She was having great success, and it was such an inspiration and made me believe maybe I could do this too. Her voice and the way she sings and tells stories. She's just one of my all-time favorites. I went on tour with her. She was so authentically what you see, just a good human being through and through. She's truly a beautiful talent in music."
She also rhapsodized about Vince Gill. "I really look up to him. He's really been a champion of this new season of my life. He sang with me on the Opry. He's always been someone who'll grab breakfast with me. We sit and laugh. I look to him as a compass and friend and someone who's a beautiful talent."
