Joshua had spent the past few days under observation following the car wreckage. He was sitting in the back seat when the crash occurred. Multiple videos surfaced showing the boxing champion awake, alert, and clearly in a significant amount of pain. He was less than two weeks removed from defeating Jake Paul on Netflix.

"Reuters news agencies say he suffered minor injuries," Sky Sports News reported on the day of the incident. "According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred along a busy highway where a vehicle carrying Joshua collided with a stationary truck. The exact cause is now being investigated. There is no statement from Anthony Joshua's team on the incident just yet."

Two of Anthony Joshua's Friends Died in the Car Crash

In the hours that followed the crash, it was reported that the two deceased were both close friends of Anthony Joshua. Sina Ghami was the boxer's strength and conditioning coach, while Latif Ayodele was his trainer.

"With profound sadness it has been confirmed that two close friends and team members Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele have tragically passed away," a statement regarding their deaths read. "Matchroom Boxing and 258 BXG can confirm that Anthony sustained injuries in the accident and was taken to hospital for checks and treatment. He is in a stable condition and will remain there for observation. Our deepest condolences and prayers are with the families and friends of all those affected - and we ask that their privacy is respected at this incredibly difficult time."

Joshua has not yet spoken on the loss of his friends. He will likely remain out of the public eye as he continues his recovery and begins the mourning process. However, given the nature of his sport, we will eventually hear from him, especially if a superfight with Tyson Fury is to take place at some point in 2026.
