Vince Gill has had an amazing career. At the age of 68, he can look back on all the great songs he has performed and recorded, marvelous concerts he's given, and now, his landmark participation with The Eagles. And he has won so many prestigious awards as well. But sometimes, a recording is not always commercially successful, a dilemma that all singers must face from time to time. When Gill sat down for a chat with Clint Black on Black's show, Talking in Circles, he was quite upfront about what really matters to him, as a seasoned professional and performer. Something propels him onward, even when the sales numbers an LP racks up are less than stellar and the cash register fails to keep ringing.

Vince Gill Has Discussed What Matters to Him Most - And It's Not Huge Sales Of An Album
Despite his stature in the music industry, Vince Gill is incredibly modest and down-to-earth. There is no pretentiousness in this guy - none. He is very honest about himself, his work, and his priorities. Gill knows he is not perfect, and he does not strive to be. Gill has high, but realistic, standards, it seems.
When he spoke with Black, he acknowledged that he dies not always like what he sings and records. "I go back and look at my records," Gill shared, "and I don't like a lot of them. I like some of them. I don't like them all. I don't like every song, I don't like every record.
Quality And Constant Improvement Are His Goals, Even If Sales Are Disappointing
Gill added, "You should get better the more you do it. It's interesting, I feel like I sing better now, write better, play better, than I ever did, even in all the years of having the greatest success. It was not even gonna be my barometer of what I was doing well. I think my ears have always kind of led me. I feel like even though some of these records go largely unnoticed, I think they're better. So that's enough for me to continue and keep trying...."
His fans really love what Vince Gill does. They hope the gifted Country Music Hall of Famer keeps on doing it for many years to come.
