'Voice Kids' Star Karen Silva Dead At 17 After Suffering Hemorrhagic Stroke

The Voice Kids star Karen Silva has died at 17 years old after suffering a hemorrhagic stroke. She appeared on the 2020 season of the show and advanced through to the semi-finals.

Karen Silva was only 12 when she showed the world her talent. It is a tragedy to see the confirmation of her death via her Instagram page. She passed on April 24.

Describing the circumstances of her death, a statement read, "It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of the young singer Karen Silva, aged 17, occurred after days of hospitalization at São João Batista Hospital, in Volta Redonda, as a result of a hemorrhagic stroke."

Four days prior to this post, it was announced that the singer was "facing a health problem." No details were spared, although the statement was optimistic about her recovery. She was surrounded by family and friends who were supporting her through her sudden trial.

An only child, she is survived only by her parents, Manoella and Fernando Silva.

The statement of her passing continued, "Karen enchanted Brazil with her powerful voice and striking presence even in childhood, when she participated in The Voice Kids in 2020. Since then, he has followed a luminous path, uniting talent, charisma and representation at every step."

"More than an up-and-coming artist, Karen was a symbol of empowerment, especially for Black girls who found in her inspiration and strength to dream. Her music, her message and her joy leave a deep mark on all who met her and followed her journey."

The statement concluded, "In this moment of great pain, we send our solidarity to their parents, Manoella and Fernando, with friends, family, and fans. May the memory of your light continue to guide us."

Everyone who knew Karen Silva took to the comments to share their grief and sadness. I only hope her parents can manage and get through the overwhelming pain together.
