Texans are being warned to keep their paws off Whataburger's order numbers - or else.

In a now-viral Facebook post from the Northeast Police Department in Krugerville, Texas, authorities send out a warning to those poaching the fast food joint's iconic order numbers.
"We have learned that it has become a game for area teens to be removing the plastic "order numbers" from the restaurant when in attendance," the post read. "Removing these items without consent is a theft, which could result in a citation being issued for Theft of Property under $100.00."
The police even snapped a few photos of the confiscated order numbers lined up on the hood of their cop cars. According to the Star-Telegram, 70 order tents were discovered while responding to an unrelated call. Northeast Police Chief James Edland says that the local Whataburger has been forced to order new order number each week because they are being stolen so quickly.
Naturally, the post drew mixed reactions. Some praised the police for teaching kids that theft is serious business, even when it's small. Of course, a few also questioned if it was really worth the efforts to try and recover the plastic tents.

No matter how you look at it, a love for Whataburger is still never a good enough reason for stealing. Keep that in mind the next time you grab a tasty burger, or else you might end up with a hefty fine.
