We were been given a sneak peek of "Created Me" by the singer-songwriter ahead of its release. Let me tell you, it's a breath of fresh air. Her talent as a vocalist shines through with her latest track, available to stream on the 20th of March.
The simple, flowing country instrumental gives plenty of space for the gentle yet controlled folk lyrics. Charlotte Morris isn't afraid to hit the highs and lows she confidently exhibits in "Created Me," requiring no help from the ugly autotune that is so common in the genre these days.
Her lyrics in "Created Me" pull much more from the depth of folk than the shallow pond of modern country. Charlotte Morris sings of the inherited traits of our lineage, speaking of family and continuing tradition. "There are so many things in my life that I never noticed were because of how my parents did things, and they did it because [of] their parents," Charlotte Morris explained. "This idea stuck with me for a while...Then finally, as I found myself reflecting more and more on the subtle yet profound ways in which our ancestors shape us, through traits, traditions, and even the smallest quirks, 'Created Me' came to be."
