Why In-N-Out Is Suing One Popular YouTube Prankster

In-N-Out is trying to take a popular YouTube prankster out of the equation after a series of "insensitive" and "lewd" jokes made while posing as an employee.

Bryan Arnett has made an audience for himself on social media as he records himself pulling pranks on establishments. In-N-Out is a popular target for him, and recently, he's been stepping things up, prompting action from the company.

In a recent YouTube video, which has since been unlisted from public viewing, Bryan Arnett donned an In-N-Out uniform as he made remarks to customers the chain is not happy with.

According to SFGate, Arnett stood outside an In-N-Out in Glendale. It was on Easter, so restaurants were closed, leaving him as the only person on the premises. This created the illusion that the establishment may be open.

Talking to approaching customers, he made remarks such as "I like watching my wife sleeping with other men. Is that something you'd be interested in?" He also told some 'customers' that the restaurant was "only serving gay people," according to The New York Post.

He also got a friend to approach as though a customer, where they pretended his order contained a cockroach.

As you can imagine, In-N-Out believes this is a step too far.

In-N-Out Sues Bryan Arnett

Per the outlet, on June 20, the restaurant filed a lawsuit in federal court. They are accusing Arnett of damaging the brand.

Among other things, the lawsuit claims that Arnett "falsely represented" the company when he made "lewd, unsettling and bizarre" comments that "reflected directly and negatively on In-N-Out."

Not only did they send a cease-and-desist on May 2, but they are hoping to ban him from all In-N-Out locations. If the suit is successful, he will also be liable for any proven financial damages. Any money he made from the videos featuring the restaurant will also be owed to the company.

The chain is taking this very seriously, but Bryan Arnett, less so. In another unlisted video, the prankster says that he knew what he was getting himself into, but isn't worried.

"Like yeah, sure, it'll probably be annoying or whatever, but whatever's gonna happen is gonna happen."
