Snoop Dogg is at the center of controversy yet again after his Super Bowl commercial. Weirdly, the commercial promoted a good message, so what gives?

During the Super Bowl, an ad with Tom Brady and Snoop Dogg aired. It consisted of the pair slugging hateful insults at each other. "I hate you because you look different," "I hate you because I don't understand you," "I hate you because people I know hate you," and others were traded for a while.
This was to demonstrate that "the reasons for hate are as stupid as they sound." The commercial ended with Snoop saying, "I hate that things are so bad, that we have to do a commercial about it."
A good message delivered succinctly. Yet the internet seems to have united to attack Snoop for promoting this message. And it's all to do with his own actions.
Right-leaning folk are attacking Snoop Dogg after his controversial music video scene of his mocking assassinating Donald Trump. Left-leaning folk are attacking Snoop Dogg for performing at a Donald Trump inauguration event.
Both sides are condemning his past actions, and pointing out the irony of promoting an anti-hate message.
Internet Shreds Snoop Dogg For Anti-Hate Advert
People took to social media to share their thoughts on the matter.
"This was the dumbest commercial of the Super Bowl. If Snoop Dog wanted to stand up to hate, he shouldn't have sold out and performed at Trump's inauguration," someone wrote, believing Donald Trump is a source of hate.
"Snoop Dogg lost the right to be apart of a commercial denouncing hate when he took money to perform for Trump," another wrote, echoing the thoughts of others.
People on the other side also didn't like the commercial, however.
"Anyone else think it's ironic and hypocritical... Snoop portrayed shooting President Trump in the head a few years ago in his rap video... Is now featured in a halftime commercial talking about stopping the hate? Or is it just me?" one wrote.
"Is this you Snoop Dogg? You hate that you have to make a commercial about hate? Really?" one wrote above a screenshot of the controversial music video.
The opinions are unanimous across the board. Due to his past acts against Trump and his recent acts for Trump, the internet does not think he was the right casting choice for the ad.
