"The award recognizes those who have achieved both national and international prominence and stature through concert performances, humanitarian efforts, philanthropy, streaming numbers, record sales, and public representation at the highest level."

They should also have "positively impacted and contributed to the growth of the genre over the course of many years."

Past winners include Nelson, of course, as well as Kenny Rogers, Charley Pride, Johnny Cash, and Dolly Parton.

That means this year's recipient should be beyond legendary. The award will be presented on Nov. 19 during the 59th Annual CMA Awards at Bridgestone Arena in downtown Nashville.

Who Will Receive the 2025 CMA Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award?

Vince Gill fits the description, so it's no surprise he'll be recieving the honor this year. ABC will broadcast the ceremony at 8 p.m. Eastern. It will stream the next day on Hulu.

"He's a true trailblazer, one who gives back to the community, honors the roots of our genre, and even now, continues to share his talent with fans across the globe," said Sarah Trahern, the CMA CEO, in a statement. "He remains a vibrant force in our industry, and we're honored to celebrate an artist whose influence is so deeply woven into the fabric of our format."

Vince Gill Is More Than Worthy of the Honor

The singer, who is married to Amy Grant, recently signed a lifetime deal with MCA Records and has won 18 CMA Awards.

Four of those wins were for Song of the Year. Those include "When I Call Your Name," "Look at Us," "I Still Believe in You," and "Go Rest High on That Mountain."

Gill shares the record for hosting the award ceremony. He hosted 12 times from 1992 to 2003. He shares this record with Carrie Underwood.

Gill's accolades include his 2007 induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame, 22 Grammy Awards, and 18 CMA Awards.

He has toured with The Eagles since 2017. He is also a member of the Grand Ole Opry. Earlier this year, he invited Steve Earle to join.

Recently, he shared the stage with this year's host, Lainey Wilson. They performed "Go Rest High on That Mountain" during the In Memoriam portion of the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards.
