As we reported back in August, Rhett and his wife, Lauren Akins, announced on social media that they are expecting another child.
In the announcement video, Rhett performs an updated version of his hit, "Life Changes", while Akins holds photos of the ultrasound. The caption reads, "Here we go again! We've got some really excited big sisters in our house. God is so good."
"While I was wrapping my head around being a dad / A big wrench got thrown in the family we thought we had," Rhett sings. "Lauren's showing, one on the way / That's five under 10, yeah, what can I say."
Rhett and Akins already have four daughters: Willa Gray, Ada James, Lennon Love, and Lillie Carolina.
Thomas Rhett Says He and Akins Are Trying Something New
In a talk with Taste of Country, Rhett said that their fifth child is due in March. He also revealed that he and Akins are trying something new this time around.
He said, "Due date is in March, and we are going to wait until the day of to figure out what the gender is."
With the baby's gender a surprise, Rhett will have to wait a few months to know what color he and Akins will paint their new baby's room. Of course, yellow is considered a gender-neutral color.
However, as any parent knows, having one child is stressful enough, let alone five. Rhett said he's starting to feel the pressure a bit.
"It's terrifying for me, but there's not many surprises left in this world, and I feel that's one that you kinda get to be surprised with, if you choose to," he said.
He added, "We're genuinely excited."
Rhett Is Adding Another Critic to the Mix
Rhett also revealed that when he writes songs, he wants to find something that will impress both his kids and his fans.
"Willa Gray, my oldest, is now starting to understand, okay, this is a really well-written song, but my other three are like, does it bop or does it not? That is the only standard. Can I dance to it, or am I asking you to skip it?" he shared.
Soon, he'll have another critic to please. However, this one might be too young to know if it's a bop.
