Modern medicine is something to behold. As a race, we have come in leaps and bounds. One woman, suffering from an aggressive cancer, underwent surgery to have a total of 8 organs removed and lived to tell the tale.

After being called into the hospital to have an ovarian cyst checked, it turned out that Faye Louise had something much worse. When the doctors took a look at something that should have been a quick and easy job, it turned out that she instead had pseudomyxoma peritonei. This cancer spreads from organ to organ by depositing mucus around the body.
By this point, the cancer had traveled through eight of her organs and was going to require a huge surgery to be removed. It had moved around her body, affecting her spleen, gallbladder, appendix, ovaries, uterus, fallopian tubes, belly button, part of her liver, and greater and lesser omentum. The surgery to beat this cancer was not going to be an easy one.
She Started Planning Her Own Funeral Before Having Eight Organs Removed
Understandably, a surgery of this size is no small operation. Having any organs removed is stressful enough, let alone eight. Faye Louise said she was planning for the worst, not expecting a great outcome from the huge job.
However, despite her fears, the doctors did an incredible job. Using their expertise, they removed the cancer from Louise. She was pronounced cancer-free following her November 2023 surgery. She may be lighter eight removed organs. But, she is able to live to see another day thanks to the power of science.
Every year, she has to go in for another scan, but up to this point, she is still alive and well with no new reports. The annual check-up is a real emotional strain, bringing new pressure to the festive period. Speaking with the BBC, she said "Waiting for the results will sadly make or break every Christmas for me. But you just have to keep pushing forward and never give up."
However, this year, she posted to her Instagram, full of Christmas cheer. Apparently, her outlook on the yearly results has changed. This November her results came as more of an early Christmas gift than a dreaded message. "Santa has delivered early for me this year. One year on... words I never thought I would hear but I have done it!!!! NED!!! Full of so many emotions right now from feeling numb to feeling tears to feeling joy."
