'Yellowstone' Fans Angry After Taylor Sheridan Shows Snubbed By Emmys

Yellowstone and its many associated shows are among the hottest dramas in television. (Even though Yellowstone itself ended, it still lives on in viewers' hearts.) People love the characters, the rugged Western setting and rough-hewn lifestyle, and the fabulous actors. But the Emmys don't seem to be as enthralled as the rest of us are with the Taylor Sheridan-crafted programs. This year, Sheridan's creations only squeaked out a measly four nominations, none of which were in major categories. Fans are seething at the perceived snub.

Per Yahoo Entertainment via Town & Country, the 1923 prequel snagged a pair of noms for Outstanding Production Design and Outstanding Period Costumes. Two more Sheridan shows, Lioness and Tulsa King, each got a nomination for Stunt Coordination.

Still, a pretty skimpy haul. There was not a single nomination for an actor or actress, despite the presence of high-powered, Hollywood royalty like Nicole Kidman, Billy Bob Thornton, Harrison Ford, and Helen Mirren.

Possible Reasons For The Shows' Lack Of Emmy Recognition

There are all kinds of theories swirling about why Sheridan's dramas get Emmy snubs. Per the outlet, one idea is that the shows air on streaming service Paramount+, which hasn't got sufficient "prestige clout" to satisfy the Emmys. Then others say that Sheridan puts out "red state" or "heartland" entertainment. Some guess that Sheridan himself is not the darling of influential industry powers-that-be. It was rumored that tension between him and series star Kevin Costner made the "Field of Dreams" actor depart prior to Yellowstone's last season.

As The Hollywood Reporter suggested, you almost can't not respect what Sheridan has done, but that does not always translate into industry popularity. And in the ultra competitive ranks of Hollywood, that can be the golden coin of the realm.
