In short, the dramatic ending of Yellowstone consisted of Beth killing Jamie and securing a new ranch for her and her husband, Rip Wheeler, and the Dutton Ranch being sold by Kayce Dutton to the Broken Rock Indian tribe.
Many have praised the ending for delivering Jamie the beatdown he deserved and for upholding the promise between the Dutton family and the Indian tribe in the prequel 1883. After seven generations, it seems the tribe did get their land back.
"The empty house and empty horse stalls and bunkhouse are heartbreaking," one wrote.
"I loved the ending of Yellowstone. I especially enjoyed the Beth / Jamie moment," another said, finding cathartic release in seeing Jamie get stabbed by Beth.
Despite some having no qualms with the ending, this is the internet we're talking about, so many people have many opinions on why they didn't like it.
'Yellowstone' Finale Disappoints Fans
Many took to X to discuss their problems with the ending.
"Yellowstone finale was a big let down for me. Too predictable and Taylor Sheridan put himself in to many scenes when he was not an integral part of the family. Kevin Costner was Yellowstone and the day he left the show, it died with him. Too bad for a great series," commented one.
"Worst closing of a #1 TV show I have ever seen. I've watched every episode. Native Americans have died for thousands of years and traded land depending on conquest. But the Yellowstone gives it back to native Americans out of guilt and woke ideology," says another who apparently never saw 1883.
"It is official. Game of Thrones is no longer the worst final season of any tv show ever. Yellowstone has taken that award. What a disaster of a final season," scathes someone.
Complaints with the last episode usually revolve around Jamie and the ranch. Some think Jamie was too harshly treated by the show, saying he's not really worse than the other characters on the show. Others didn't like that the ending of the show consisted of the family parting with the one thing they've fought so hard for, the Dutton Ranch.
This may be disappointing for fans, but it's quite a poetic and meaningful fate for the ranch.
