You Won't Believe How Much 'American Idol' Alum Clay Aiken's Son Looks Like Him

The American Idol alum Clay Aiken and his son Parker attended the premiere for BOOP! The Musical Saturday evening. When the 46-year-old singer and his 16-year-old son are standing side-by-side, they look like copies of each other.

The pair were photographed and caught on video at the premiere in Broadhurst Theatre in New York City. Parker has the same exact smile as his father while sporting a black suit with a black-and-white dress shirt. Clay instead wore a light-brown jacket with a blue turtleneck sweater underneath.

Outlets like USWeekly shared a touching photo of the two Aikens, showing just how similar the father and son look. People also shared a video featuring the duo photographed alongside David Foster, the Broadway musical's composer. In fact, 75-year-old Foster is actually Parker's uncle, which is presumably why they made their premiere appearance.

Parker isn't often in the limelight, so it's nice to see the two Aikens together once in a while. One of the Aikens' more public appearances was on Celebrity Family Feud in August 2024. Their family's privacy has been quite intentional, as he told E! News how they stayed away from the public eye.

"We did a very good job, I think, for 16 years, keeping him completely out of the public eye," Clay admitted. "I wanted him to be able to grow up as normally as he could."

Back in 2003, Clay competed in season 2 of the singing competition American Idol. He nearly won the entire show, earning second place against Ruben Studdard. Eventually, Clay announced the birth of his son Parker on August 8, 2008. Although he soon after came out as gay, he shares Parker with the child's mother, Jaymes Foster, David's sister.

Clay recently got candid with People about his experience raising Parker as a father. "I'd say the most wonderful part has been watching [Parker] grow into a young man," said the singer. "He is an incredibly respectful and smart and responsible young man, and that is something that I'm incredibly proud of."

Despite the joys of fatherhood, he also described it as "heartbreaking" because of how fast they grow. "But it's heartbreaking because they grow into little, mini adults and they change," Clay continued. "It's heartbreaking to see the little kid change into a young man, almost adult who doesn't need me as much."
