It has to feel great to receive love from the all time greats. Country has always been good about anointing their current and future stars. Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton always looks out for the girls in country music, from Lainey Wilson to Ella Langley and more. Eric Church was prominent in cosigning Nashville's biggest star Morgan Wallen. Now, one of the hottest prospects in country Zach Top is receiving his love from an absolute icon in the industry: Willie Nelson.

Recently, he appeared on the Bussin' With the Boys podcast ahead of his upcoming album Ain't In It For My Health. There, he talks about the gigantic opportunity in opening for George Strait and Alan Jackson. Those are monumental in themselves but Top still has two names on his bucket list. He still wants to meet Hank Williams Jr. and Willie Nelson. As for the latter, Zach clearly has appreciation for one part of the Highwaymen in covering "Last Thing I Needed, First Thing This Morning." You never truly know if artists listen to all these covers. However, apparently, Willie did and he loved it.
Zach Top Gets Love From Willie Nelson Via His Son Lukas
Top is pretty close with Willie Nelson's son Lukas, and when they were on tour, he showed his dad the cover. Evidently, the "Always On My Mind" legend was digging it. Consequently, the young star is eager to meet Willie. "I'm friends with [Willie's] son Lukas Nelson, who's also a great, great artist, great singer. Anyway, he texted me one time, last year, we were doing an old song Gary P. Nunn wrote 'Last Thing I Needed, First Thing This Morning,' one of my favorite Willie Nelson songs, we were covering that in our show," Zach recalls
And Lukas texted me one day and he's like 'Man, I showed your cover to my dad. I just wanted to you know he thought you did really good job on it, and he liked it a lot.' And it's like, that's pretty damn cool. So I would love to get to meet him, obviously," Zach Top adds.
