On December 1, Season 5 Episode 12 of Yellowstone was released, and beloved character Colby Mayfield died. This happens in the episode after Sarah Atwood is killed, making the gut punch even worse.

Is it too late for a spoiler warning?

Denim Richards paid tribute to his time on Yellowstone with an Instagram post. "Grateful??????," he captions the post of his uniform folded and placed upon and around his set chair. A simple message that's a perfect goodbye to this era of his career.

Richards also posted two other clips of his character in Yellowstone, which has only made grieving fans even more upset.

Some of his cast members commented under the first post.

"You are beyond loved, my dear friend and actor," comments Jen Landon, who plays Teeter, Colby's girlfriend.

"Like, I know you're okay and I'm still not okay," writes Hassie Harrison, who plays Laramie.

Naturally, the comments from fans are a mix of upset and outrage.

Internet Reacts To Denim Richard's Yellowstone Post Following Colby's Death

Most comments are mad at Colby getting killed off, calling it senseless and pointless. Others are heartbroken about the show ripping apart Colby and Teeter's relationship so viciously.

"I shedded more tears tonight than over John Dutton???," comments a devastated fan.

"When I say WTF, I really mean WTF!?! Taylor has lost his damn mind with the last half of this season. Why the h*ll did he kill Colby off!?? I have been sobbing and am in complete shock. Absolutely ridiculous. Thank you for everything Denim, you were my favorite and you deserved so much better ?," lengthily complains another fan.

There have been numerous deaths in the latter half of this final season. With two more episodes to go, it's likely we could see even more death before the end.

"I yelled "WHAT!?" So loud at the tv last night. Then fought tears. Then spent the rest of the episode devastated and angry," recalls another.

"This death was so unnecessary," blanky states one more.

The feeling of devastation is unanimous among Yellowstone fans, although many are questioning the purpose of Colby's death. Let's hope time will tell.
