Spanish Actor Taken Too Young
De la Torre tragically passed away on December 5 and left behind his two parents and his sister back in his hometown Montilla. Montilla Digital reported that the funeral occurred on December 6 in Montilla, which is in the Córdoba Province of Spain.
Singer and actor Lolita Flores spoke at the funeral service with a touching message, as The Mirror reported. "It breaks my heart to think I'll never hear your voice again, but I'll keep talking to you. Love you endlessly, José."
Back in June, the Netflix star revealed that he was battling a difficult illness. While getting treatment for this grave disease, De la Torre avoided the public eye. His final post on Instagram was posted on June 3 and featured a set of lovely photos of the actor.
You can see De la Torre smiling and enjoying his time with friends in the Canary Islands. It depicted the actor looking both delighted and healthy, even though he was dealing with a terrible illness.
The caption read: "The happiness of arriving in the Canary Islands, seeing your friends, grab a mojito and start singing until your voice breaks."
Since the Montilla outlet reported on the funeral, other actors and singers have made tributes in remembrance of the star.
A fellow actor, Luisa Martín, wrote a heartbreaking message for De la Torre. "It breaks my heart to think I'll never hear your voice again, but I'll keep talking to you. Love you endlessly, José."
"I can't believe you're gone so soon," wrote Spanish singer Pablo Alborán on Instagram. "I'm devastated by your departure. I'm sending kisses to all of your family and friends."
Alborán also said that wherever De la Torre was, he was sure that he was "wearing a Hawaiian shirt, a killer mustache, and those sunglasses like the ones we wore that day."
The actor's big break, Toy Boy, was a two-season thriller series about a stripper who leaves prison and sets on a mission to find proof of his innocence in a murder case where he believed his lover framed him. It ran from 2019 to 2021 on Netflix.
De la Torre only has a couple of acting credits aside from his role in Toy Boy. He starred in two other TV series, which were Vis a Vis: El Oasis and Amar es para siempre. Not only that, but we got some modeling gigs for a few different high-end fashion and jewelry brands.
