Underwood fans went wild online after it was confirmed that she would be performing immediately before Trump would be sworn into office. Ex-fans took to X to express their disgust with the singer. Threats to boycott the star and never listen to her music again were made.
In a statement, Underwood stressed that it is an honor to sing for the country at a time of unity. Her left-leaning fans aren't having it, however. In an attempt to further cancel and deplatform the singer, they took to the comment sections of American Idol's Instagram page.
Underwood is one of their most famous and successful alums, and she's been brought in as a judge for the latest season, replacing Katy Perry. The show has been very vocal and excited about Underwood's addition to the judge roster. But fans are now demanding that she be fired.
Internet Storms 'American Idol' Comments To Get Rid Of Underwood
The comment sections are full of people expressing their outrage against the singer.
"Not watching American idol anymore since Carrie Underwood is performing for Trump," one plainly puts.
"Just put this show out of its misery now that ms. orange lover is a host," writes another.
"Y'all don't have some kind of contract that prevents Carrie from doing.... this? Won't be watching anymore in this house," comments an ex-fan.
"Not watching. You guys should've told Carrie not to support a felon who openly talked about s3xual @$$ault," another says.
"Un-American Idol. Like so many others; we will be boycotting the show until she's gone," comments another.
"Love AI have been watching since the beginning, family not watching this year we can't support a judge that agrees with SA of women," says one more.
Comments of regret, disappointment, upset, and anger fill the comment sections of any American Idol Instagram post.
Nothing will likely come of the boycotts and threats, as the show is almost too big to fail. If anything, they may make this Underwood's only season, but I doubt they'd replace her at this point.
