Macy Blackwell, a social media influencer with 2 million followers, shared her story on her page. She had been looking through a big resale group on Facebook when she came across the tickets. In hindsight, she says she should have known she was going to be scammed on the Morgan Wallen tickets because of the price. She noted they were about $100 less than the original price.
But, she went ahead and bought the tickets anyway. She paid a huge $2500 per ticket and got sent through something that was certainly not genuine. "She must have spent, like, two hours typing up this big phony ticket thing," the influencer noted. There were typos, they looked terrible and were obviously not real.
It didn't take long for her to realize she had been scammed for the Morgan Wallen tickets. But, it was too late. She had already paid the money with Apple Pay.
Let Me Be A Warning
The influencer is gutted she just lost $5000 on the phony tickets, but she blames nobody but herself. "I literally went to bed feeling so sick. But you know, life lesson learned," she told her followers. "I'm never gonna try to buy anything on Facebook again."
It's a tough lesson to learn. There are thousands of scams just like this that play out every day. It's a tricky landscape to navigate. She knows she was scammed for the Morgan Wallen tickets from her own naivety and wants her lesson to be shared.
Blackwell is upset, but realistic about it. She said, "But at the same time since there is nothing I can do about it and no way to do anything to these people, I can at least share it with you so you don't fall for the same thing."
You have to be careful out there. The internet is full of nasties trying to get their hands on your cash.
