Melissa Gilbert doesn't regret lashing out against former Fox News personality Megyn Kelly one bit. For context, Megyn Kelly went on her usual Twitter tirade, reacting to the news that Netflix is revamping Little House on the Prairie. Predictably, she laments the potential for 'woke' inclusions into the show. "Netflix, if you woke-ify 'Little House on the Prairie' I will make it my singular mission to absolutely ruin your project," Kelly tweets.

Then, Melissa posts on Threads, claiming that clearly Megyn wasn't paying that much attention to the show if that's her takeaway. "Apparently Megyn tweeted (I'm not on that platform) asking that Netflix not 'woke-Ify' their 'Little House' remake," Gilbert writes. "Ummm...watch the original again. TV doesn't get too much more 'woke' than we did. We tackled: racism, addiction, nativism, antisemitism, misogyny, rape, spousal abuse and every other 'woke' topic you can think of. Thank you very much."
Now, Melissa is expanding why she took the time to respond to Megyn's ridiculous post.
Melissa Gilbert Explains Why She Lashed Out Against Megyn Kelly
Recently, Gilbert spoke with PEOPLE magazine for an interview. There, she admits that she didn't initially intend to react to the former Fox News personality. "Listen, I wasn't going to say a word. I really wasn't. Because it's a separate story, we're not involved. I think everyone has a right to tell any story they want to in any way they want to and I think there's a great deal of room in the Little House universe for multiple stories and multiple points of view," Melissa says.
"I think if it does well, when the water rises, all boats float. So I don't have a problem with that. What I have a problem with, and the reason I opened my big fat mouth, was because someone else opened hers," Melissa adds.
Ultimately, Gilbert just wants to assert that Kelly's talk about 'woke-ifying' Little House on the Prairie is dishonest and misunderstands the source material. "It's hyperbole and it's damaging and it's wrong. I didn't jump into it for any particular political reasons or anything like that. I just wanted to set the record straight. The fans all pretty much, largely I would say, said, 'Exactly, Little House was that," Melissa says.
