Frustrated Super Bowl Viewers Wished Lil Wayne Would Have Done Half Time Show After Disappointing Kendrick Lamar Performance

Frustrated Super Bowl viewers thought Kendrick Lamar's Half Time performance (despite a Samuel L. Jackson appearance) was a bit of a dud. They lamented not getting Lil Wayne, who is actually from New Orleans, to perform for the big show.

One person wrote, "This the Kendrick Lamar performance yall disrespected Lil Wayne over ? Lmaooo alright."

Another wrote, "Kendrick Lamar is boring. Wack Halftime Show. He's the Tim Duncan of HipHop (that's a compliment). New Orleans had the opportunity to shine a light on their culture, with a Lil Wayne & Cash Money infused event full of Mardi Gras colors & homage."

Another wrote, "And lil wayne definitely could have pulled off the halftime show as well if that's what kendrick was going to give..."

Yet another wrote, "So Jay Z robbed Lil Wayne of the halftime show in his city...... for THAT!? LOL"

Lil Wayne Was Angry

Previously, Lil Wayne revealed he would not be attending the Super Bowl after getting snubbed over the Half Time Show.

"Y'all know I'm not going to be there this week," the rapper said. "Shoutout to New Orleans, but I've been working on something very special. I've got something exciting coming for you."

"Until then? I'm just chillin,'" he said. That surprise was a Cetaphil commercial that poked fun of how he reacted to the Super Bowl news.

"Sometimes, we all get a Lil Sensitive... and hey, who hasn't been there? Right, @Cetaphil? Because if you can't solve your sensitive situation, you can at least soothe your sensitive skin," the rapper captioned a post.

Meanwhile, Lamar hyped up his performance ahead of the Half Time Show.

"I've always been very open about storytelling through all my catalog and my history of music, and I've always had a passion about bringing that on whatever stage I'm on," Lamar said in the press conference on Thursday. "I like to always carry on that sense of mak[ing] people listen, but also [to] see and think a little."

"I think a lot of people was putting rap to the back — you didn't get that grit, you didn't see that bite anymore," he explained. "My intent, I think from day one, was to always keep the nature of it as a sport... I love when artists grit [their] teeth. I still watch battle raps ... This has always been the core definition of who I am."
