The country singer recently uploaded a YouTube video for an announcement, but prefaced the news with a story. He shared what really got him to double down and get going with his exercise. It's only within the past year or so that Jelly Roll really got his act together. He's since lost over 100 lbs, and is looking great for it. The journey has been hard, but he hasn't backed down.

"A little bit over a year ago, I literally struggled to walk down my hill to the mailbox," he shared. "It was really bad."

"I had let myself get to a point of just being really absolutely disgusted with myself," he said. "I'd spent three or four years 'pretending' to try and work on my weight, and on my health, but I never actually really dug my heels in the ground and did the work."

I know many can relate out there, as can I. No matter your size, not sticking to exercise routines is a universal regret.

In Jelly Roll's darkest moment, when he was really searching for the light to help motivate him to get himself in order, he found the "2 Bears 5k" event.

2B5K Was All The Motivation Jelly Roll Needed To Lose Weight

2B5K is a 5 kilometer course that was hosted last year in May, by comedians Tom Segura and Bert Kreischer.

"If there was ever a place that I was going to feel safe trying to do my first 5k, it was going to be at the 2 Bears 5K," he said. Seeing the race as his goal, he hired and reached out to people to help him with his weight loss journey.

And when May rolled around, Jelly Roll attended, and he managed to walk his first 5K, something he's incredibly proud of. So it's no wonder that not only is he attending the race again this year, but he's hosting it with Segura and Kreischer.

He's once again called upon his fans to join him in the 'race.'

Without this friendly and loose event to encourage him, Jelly Roll may have really struggled to get where is today.
